About

Tax 2.0 is an innovative coalition of senior corporate tax professionals organized to facilitate the creation of a shared industry vision and a strategic approach to impart positive change and advancement of the corporate tax industry and profession.

The Tax 2.0 mission is to drive performance excellence by fostering innovation and defining best practices in tax and administration. To this end, Tax 2.0 will support an open community of tax professionals and develop industry-driven resources to help its members achieve the vision for the future of the industry.

Tax 2.0 membership includes three primary components:

  1. An online community using the latest social media technologies so that individuals and groups can connect with each other to address unique tax operations interests and challenges.
  2. A series of industry-developed toolsets that help members understand their current level of performance, how this performance compares to their peers, and how to develop a plan for improvement and ongoing performance measurement.
  3. Live events where members can meet, discuss, and collaborate around topics related to tax department performance.

What sets Tax 2.0 apart?

Tax 2.0 is the only professional organization that is focused exclusively on tax operations excellence. We do not focus on tax policy or tax-technical education for tax professionals. Rather, our programs are designed to understand what it takes to run an outstanding tax department, and to support tax operational leaders in transforming their organizations.

Our membership model reflects this emphasis on the corporate tax department. Our corporate-based membership model reflects our belief that operational transformation and excellence can only come from a coordinated, organization-wide effort. We encourage you to build your Tax 2.0 membership into your departmental team building programs.

We also actively encourage our members to include their colleagues outside of the tax department as named users in the Tax 2.0 community. We all know of the traditional isolation of the tax department; inviting colleagues from Finance, IT, and even business unit stakeholders to participate directly in your transformational efforts can be an important and valuable step in increasing operational effectiveness.

Finally, we are committed to developing an environment where tax professionals share their experience and perspective for the good of the community. When tax professionals share real-world data, collaboration on a global scale becomes possible. New practices become possible. Most importantly, change becomes possible. Currently, most tax practices are not shared due to the general isolation and resource scarcity within tax departments, plus the perceived risk with revenue authorities. As a result, advances in tax operations practices do not proliferate, and the overall corporate tax profession muddles forward. But it doesn’t have to be that way. When you and thousands like you share your experiences and perspective, you open up the corporate tax profession. You learn what’s working for others. You improve your dialogue with your colleagues. Best of all, you create more value and improve your work environment.
